Catherine Wood

Owner and Director

Miss Cat studied and danced at the Margo Marshall School of Ballet for 12 years and the Vero Classical Ballet in Florida. Took many workshops over her years with profesionally trained instructors and extremely well known dancers. She has performed any many productions of the Nutcraker In Houston and Galveston. Growing up she was on her schools praiseDance team and She was also on her Highschool cheer Team, Dance team and took gymnastics. Her dance teaching career includes the Little Gym Activities for Kids and She started teaching for Super Stars Dance when she was 14 years old and has taken over Super Stars Dance as the owner/Director since Susan Bates passing.She has also taught for Donna Smith with A time to dance. Miss cat has owned this company for 4 years now.

She has taken many child development classes, studied business and liberal arts and is CPR certified as well as takes all of the training courses each school requires!

Dance is what fills my soul and makes me come alive. I have always believed in creating a community of people who love the power of movement as much as I do, and this is my main goal as a dedicated Dance Instructor. I want each and every one of my students to leave my classes feeling energized and joyful.

 

 

I plan to continue Susan's Legacy and make her proud of the company she built!

Kelsey Johnson

Dance Instructor

Miss Kelsey grew up doing competitive dance as well as studying Ballet. She does it all: Hip-Hop, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Lyrical... you name it! She has attended many workshops over her years and danced with multiple dance companies, including the Vitacca Dance Project and Tremaine Dance Company. She has performed in many many shows not only in the Houston area, but also in NYC and LA. She began teaching at her home studio at an early age. Miss Kelsey is also an HSPVA Alumni. 

She has taught with both Super Stars and A Time to Dance for 7 years now. Miss Kelsey has an Associates of Arts in Multidisciplinary Studies and is currently continuing her education at UHD as a child and adolescent psychology major. She attends many dance classes in her free time to continuously push herself to master the art of creative movement. Miss Kelsey has taken classes from Penny Prima to enhance her engagement skills with the kids. She is CPR certified and has taken all of the required classes from each school to ensure she knows how to properly handle any situation!

Ever since I was able to walk, I was dancing. Growing up, I took lessons at Center Stage Dance and will always remember the inner strength, discipline, and drive instilled in me from a young age. It is what enabled me to have such an exciting and rewarding career today. 

I am proud to pass on the methods I have acquired as a dedicated Dance Instructor. In my classes, students receive the type of training that turns them not just into successful dancers, but accomplished human beings, prepared to achieve whatever they set their minds to.

Kaylee Baxter

Dance Instructor

Miss Kaylee had a passion for dance at a very young age and has 16 years of dance experience.  She began dancing at Superstars Dance Studio when she was only three years old and continued her dance journey at Superstars until age eleven.   She continued her training by being on the competition dance team at her middle and high school.  She has training in jazz, tap, ballet, novelty, hip-hop, contemporary and lyrical. She has danced in several productions and continues to look for opportunities to dance in her school and community.  

She has attended several dance conventions and workshops over the years to nurture her love for dance.  

Miss Kaylee has worked recitals and even performed as a guest performer at many Superstars Dance performances. 

You can say she grew up in the Superstars atmosphere, so she is very familiar with our program.  She has worked two summers now at Typhoon Texas waterpark as a lifeguard and district supervisor of the park's kiddie area. 

So she is CPR, and first aid certified and has several years of experience working with young children.  

Kaylee is currently attending Houston Community College, where she is obtaining an Associate of the Arts.  She then plans to transfer to a university to study speech pathology with a specialization in deaf education. She is currently in training to make her dream of becoming a Texans cheerleader come true.

As a professional dancer, I have been fortunate to have a rewarding career, I am excited to share my experience with you. I believe that everyone in the world should have access to proper training, which is one of the many reasons I am proud to be a certified Dance Instructor. 

I love infusing new styles and techniques into my classes, and there is nothing that inspires me more than seeing the light in my students’ eyes and the fire in their hearts. Join me for one of my classes, offered both online and in-person, and experience for yourself all that the dance world has to offer. You won’t be disappointed.

Jasmine Lopez

Dance Instructor

Jasmine Lopez started her dancing experience at the young age of four with flamenco performances in Pre-School. Shortly after, she attended a dance studio and trained in ballet for a few years while participating in Dance at her elementary school. Continuing her education at Meyerland Performing and Visual Arts Middle School, she trained in tap and pointe. At fourteen years old, she attended Dancescape by Joyce to continue studying pointe in high school. Jasmine attended San Jacinto College to receive an Associates in Fine Arts for Dance and plans to attend St. Thomas to earn a Master's in Dance. She has been teaching with Super Stars for two years, and she was the perfect addition to our company. Jasmine loves to choreograph and take dance classes to learn different dancing styles or techniques in her free time. She has also attended Penny Prima classes and is certified with all of our schools to properly give each facility and class the professional and fun environment students need to prosper. Jasmine is CPR, First Aid and AED certified for children and adults. 

 

As a dance instructor, I can't think of anything else that brings me joy other than the art of Dance. I love working with students of all ages and backgrounds and feel fortunate to see how they grow and develop their skills. I'm so excited to share my technique and style with your little dancers.

Kaytee Compton

Dance Instructor

Kaytee has been dancing since the age of three. She trained at various studios in Beaumont,
TX throughout her childhood. She is trained in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, and precision
dance. Kaytee spent her youth competing and attending workshops all over the nation, training
in NYC with the Radio City Rockettes, and performing as a principal dancer in the Revelation
Dance Pre-Professional Company. She has continued her dance career after high school as a
Texas State University Strutter and is currently on the University of Houston Cougar Doll Dance
Team. She is attending the University of Houston to obtain a degree in Kinesiology with a minor
in Dance. Kaytee has been teaching dance since the age of 15 and is currently working at
Mariposa School of Dance as well as Super Stars Dance. She CPR certified as well as cirtified with what each school requires.

I’ve been working as a Dance Instructor With each passing day, I fall more in love with dance and it makes me so happy to be able to share my passion with you.

I’ve been privileged to see so many of my students discover their natural skills and talents and reach results they never dreamed were possible. 

Patricia and Katy Wood

Assistants

Patricia Is Catherines Mother. She has been around Dance being a Dance mom for so many years. She is a retired Special ed and art teacher. Katy is Catherines Older sister who is high functioning special needs. Katy LOVES to work and this is the perfect job for her. You will see them assisting with classroom pick ups, Helping with getting the kids dressed, Bathroom runs, Water runs, Keeping Kids on their dots and parent pick up! they are everything we need for extra hands at certain schools!
